The football season is over, players are enjoying their end of season breaks, jetting off to exotic destinations or competing in international tournaments (some countries for longer than others, England…). But that doesn’t mean that the lights are switched off and the gates are locked up over summer for the modern football stadium. Nowadays stadiums are multi-functional entertainment complexes, and there is no better example of that than The Etihad Stadium, Manchester City’s home ground.
As soon as the final whistle blew on 22nd May at The Etihad for the England v Turkey friendly, it was all systems go, preparing for a run of 8 huge summer concerts in just 4 weeks (click this link for a time-lapse of the stadium’s transformation!). Of course Arc Recruitment were on hand as ever to help each concert run as smoothly as possible, providing over 200 staff on some of the busier events!
This summer’s concerts saw Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, AC/DC and The Stone Roses grace the Manchester crowds with their presence. With a wide array of music on offer, each concert brought different challenges, different crowds, and the full spectrum of Manchester summer weather!

So how do Arc manage to handle such a huge operation over such a long period? The key to this is the characteristics our fantastic team have always incorporated to ensure we go from strength to strength – passion, attention to detail and as always an underlying determination to deliver above and beyond every single time (and coffee – lots of coffee!). The beginning of 2016 saw us open offices in Manchester and Leeds and this move proved invaluable to ensuring we could fulfil our client’s requirements across the board. This summer is our busiest summer to date and it’s great to see how strong we are across the North of England. Transport arrangements, on-site check in’s and communication between the various offices were exemplary and ensured we could deliver the best possible team each time, and also provide our other clients with the high-quality service they come to expect from Arc.
From chefs to warehouse staff, team leaders to hawkers, Arc provided invaluable support to the team at the Etihad Stadium and I’m very pleased to say each concert was a fantastic success. Whether singing along to Coldplay or requesting ear-plugs for AC/DC (I’ve never seen so many speakers on one stage!), all of our staff were a credit to themselves and their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm for the job is something we are always grateful for. Irrespective of where they were working in the stadium, whether it be dealing with the crowds at the busy bars outside, or those standing pitch-side hawking beers, it was fantastic to walk around the stadium and find a smile on every Arc member of staff’s face. As Area Manager for London it was great for me personally to reconnect with staff up North who still display the same passion I’ve always seen from them, and also to meet so many new enthusiastic staff members.
