Our Company Director Michael Gavin focuses on what's coming up for Arc in 2016:
2016 promises to be a fantastic year for Arc. I’ve listed some of the highlights we are looking forward to by quarter below:
Quarter One (January to March)
Quarter One commences with the opening of new offices in Manchester and Nottingham. As a company we are keen to extend our geographical presence and have managed to secure some great city centre premises in both locations. In particular, we are proud of the first class training facilities we will be able to offer to new recruits. Fortunately, we have already won some great contracts in each area so we will be able to hit the ground running and offer lots of great placements to our staff.
The start of 2016 is also our audition season for Knowsley Safari and Knowsley Hall. We are proud to be the recruitment partner for the Knowsley Estate and are excited to source them another great batch of seasonal staff for both sites.
February brings the return of the Six Nations and our return to Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for another series of top quality international rugby. We received some amazing feedback from the Rugby World Cup and are increasing our offering to both clients to keep developing our partnership further.
The start of March sees our new Senior Recruitment Manager Toni start. Toni will be responsible for all our recruitment across the UK and bring 12 years HR experience to us. In addition, we are further strengthening our recruitment department with the appointment of two new Recruitment Coordinators. This will give us the platform to improve our selection and assessment of candidates further as we look to keep improving the quality of our staff in all localities.
March 2016 also marks our debut at the Cheltenham Festival which as racing fans is something we are very keen to be a part of! Our team of staff will be doing a range of catering roles across the racecourse in our first appearance at the flagship event of the National Hunt Season.
Quarter Two (April to June)
April 1st marks the introduction of the National Living Wage for all individuals over the age of 25 in the UK. Here at Arc post-holiday pay this means a minimum pay rate for over 25’s of £8.07 per hour. We are fully supportive of the new legislation and will be continuing to provide placements for staff based on merit and attitude and not age.
The focus quickly turns to racing and in particular the start of the flat racing season. This year promises to be our most exciting season of summer racing to date and the start of our relationship with Goodwood Racecourse and Rhubarb Catering.
Our betting division is also undergoing exciting developments as we cement our reputation as the leading supplier of betting agency staff in the country with our own gambling commission licence. This will give us the platform to supply compliant staff across the industry. All our betting trained staff are briefed, inducted and trained in both the practical and theoretical elements of working in the gaming industry. In particular, we place a lot of emphasis on the social responsibilities our staff must adhere to when it comes to working in a regulated industry such as betting.
June sees a series of large scale concerts from the Stone Roses to Coldplay with a little bit of AC/DC thrown in for good measure! Our retail catering offering spans from hawkers to cooks with a large emphasis on supplying staff who are not only till trained but also possess a smile!
Finally, the end of June marks our 8th birthday and the end of another financial year. We are well on track to exceed targets across the board as we continue to grow and develop into one of the leading businesses in our field.
Quarter Three (July to September)
As we move into the second half of the year another Premier League season begins. 2015/2016 saw us work with 6 different Premier League clubs and 2016/2017 promises potentially even more.
One of the main developments we are looking forward to in the 2016/2017 season is the opening of the new main stand at Liverpool Football Club-this is a fantastic new development at one of our longest serving clients, which we are immensely looking forward to supporting. Arc will be providing staff in a variety of roles from experienced chefs to staffing officers to help make the integration of this development as smooth as possible.
The end of Summer 2016 will also see us develop our network further with the opening of regional offices in Cardiff and Leeds as we step our recruitment up in both areas for the busy autumn/winter period. This will take us a long way to realising our ambition of a nationwide network of offices allowing us to support clients throughout the country.
This will coincide with the standardisation of our recruitment structure and processes across the UK allowing us to find the most personable and presentable staff possible.
Quarter Four (October to December)
Moving into October we start work on assisting our themed attraction clients with the busy October Half Term period. Our team thoroughly enjoy these placements as it often presents the opportunity for them to test themselves doing something slightly different whether it is selling candyfloss or scanning tickets we are happy to help.
October also marks the start of our recruitment for our busy Xmas period. In 2015 we successfully delivered 9 separate Xmas party sites in addition to supporting our existing clients’ requirements. This year we have secured 14 different venues across the UK. It’s going to be a challenge but one we are all looking forward to immensely.
As winter approaches we will begin our entry into supplying staff for the facilities management sector with the start of our recruitment for a very exciting project we have secured for 2017. That’s all I can say for now but I will reveal more in due course.
December is our busiest time of year as we enter top gear to ensure we can support all our clients as much as possible. We always aim to work in partnership with our clients and as a result we will be extending our operating hours throughout December 2016 to make sure we can respond to any request. December 2015 saw 1800 staff work over 45000 hours, this year this will rise to over 2300 staff working over 60000 hours. It’s going to be fun!
