Coronavirus Update

As we reflect on the last two months the first thing that springs to mind is how much has changed within our world and how global the impact of coronavirus has been. At the time of writing there have been over 3 million confirmed cases in 185 countries with over 200,000 deaths. The truly terrifying aspect to these numbers is that they are probably understated and will rise further. This is the greatest cost of coronavirus and is of far more significance than any economic damage that will be left behind.

However, it would be remiss not to consider the dreadful impact the virus has had on the hospitality industry that we are so proud to be a part of. The banning of mass gatherings has affected us greatly with most of our events and revenue for the foreseeable future being cancelled. Like many businesses there have been difficult conversations and moments of apprehension and worry. Yet, what encourages us most as we approach May is how quickly we have adapted our operation and how much our team has pulled together.

It gives us pride that we have managed to protect all our roles whilst supporting rewarding diversification projects by supplying hospitals and virus testing centres with our amazing casual staff. Over half of our full-time team remains fully active and operational. We have adapted to working remotely and remain fully open, 6am-6pm, 7 days a week. We have changed our recruitment process to make it fully online to take advantage of the changes in relation to Right to Work legislation. This has allowed us to recruit remotely to support new clients and take advantage of new opportunities. We have used the extra time and unexpected capacity caused by coronavirus to enter new industries and improve our internal procedures.

Nevertheless, many things here at Arc have and will remain the same. Our values of honesty, care and delivery now seem more important than ever and have helped guide our actions over these last few difficult months. Our commitment to the hospitality industry, our clients, suppliers, and workers remains unwavering. We are truly fortunate to work and partner with so many fantastic people and businesses. It has been truly heart-warming to see how keen everyone is to support and help. Our gratitude to our full-time team is never ending, their commitment to the cause and their relentless positivity is truly infectious.

We are sure there will be more difficult moments ahead for all of us but if we can stick together and support one another we will all be sure to reach the other side.
